Why I'm Running

I am running for County Clerk to get my foot in the door of the political arena. I have high aspirations for myself and in order for me to get where I want to go then I am going to have to help and improve the lives of people along the way to get there. If I don't, then I won't get very far. And if you know me, then you know that I am determined as ever to attain the goals I have set out for myself. If the people of Tippecanoe invest in me, I will invest in them.

I am running for County Clerk to restore nonpartisanship to county government - to remove the conduit which is the political party - from getting in between government and its people it serves. I am a nonpartisan running for a nonpartisan position. A reason County Clerk is a nonpartisan position is because one of its important duties and responsibilities is to administer and oversee elections in the county. A Republican or Democrat holding this position will be more inclined to be biased towards their own party and prejudice against the other. There is a greater chance of the elections being rigged towards one party or the other with a partisan holding the position. As a nonpartisan I would be entering that office completely unbiased without any predispositions toward one party or the other. There needs to be a referee or a mediator between the two sides and that's exactly what I'll be.

I am also running for County Clerk to keep Purdue IDs an admissable form of ID when it comes to voting. With my recent time as a Boilermaker, I had the displeasure of not being able to vote during the 2008 primary when my Purdue ID was not accepted. It was a sunken and debilitating feeling that I was denied our most sacred right this country has to offer. In small or large part to sharing my story on my TV show, thankfully in time for the 2008 general election Purdue IDs were being accepted allowing many Purdue affiliates their right to vote to be met. And as County Clerk, I'll do everything I can to keep it that way.

With my youthful appearance, you may be wondering about my qualifications and/or experience I have for this position. I have updated, maintained, and tabulated constituent issue resolution records and databases for a U.S. Senator and Congresswoman in Florida. I have been fortunate enough to of been able to receive guidance and counsel from Indiana's 43rd Governor Ed Whitcomb and Indiana's 44th Governor Otis Bowen. I graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor's degree in two majors Political Science and Mass Communication. Throughout my childhood my generation and I have been at the benefit of being able to get never before access of Congressional proceedings thanks to Purdue's Brian Lamb and C-Span.
